For a small village Tairgwaith boasts some original clubs and facilities including one the few purpose-built harness-racing tracks in the UK right run by Amman Valley Trotters.
You can experience the excitement of the races with around 12 meetings per year, staged on weekends or bank holidays, starting in spring and running through until late August – many televised too!

There is a thriving Community Centre (click to Community Centre) which has regular events, hire for parties meetings etc and a very popular play-scheme organised in the holidays for local children with supervised play in the park or the community centre overseen by play-workers.
There’s a Working Men’s Club with regular events such as twice weekly Bingo and popular events such as watching the Welsh Internationals with hot food served at half time!
Canolfan Maerdy - an IT Centre for Community Learning with the latest software & technology & business services, there’s even an on-site Nursery, Lots of Tots, a long established day nursery with an excellent reputation for childcare

Amman Valley Trotting Club
Amman Valley Trotting Club is a community enterprise established in 1979 originally to organise harness racing for local enthusiasts on a site built on levelled-out former coal spoil tip long-leased from the local authority, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.

Tairgwaith Working Mens Club & Institute
You'll always get a friendly welcome in the club with weekly Bingo nights on a Thursday and Sunday, all the 6 Nations matches televised live with hot food at half time and lots more events.
